How to reduce costs and improve operations:
Less is more? How can you keep operational costs down, but still improve the effectiveness of production and delivery? e-mel is able to help you deliver greater productivity.
There are many techniques and methods to improve operational effectiveness. Many relate to quality and quality frame works such
as ISO 9000, ISO 2000, Business Excellence Model etc. Some are quite specific in advocating precise areas to examine, such as
the Toyota Production System (TPS). For example, TPS identifies specific areas of potential waste that should be eliminated.
These are:
1. Overproduction - producing more than, faster than or sooner than is required
2. Waiting - idle time that could be used productively3. Transporting - unnecessary transport of parts or materials
4. Inappropriate processing - operations that add no value from the customer's perspective
5. Unnecessary inventory - exceeding one-piece flow
6. Unnecessary/excess motion - any movement by people or equipment that does not add value
7. Defects - rework, repair or waste in its simplest form
